Born and raised in Arizona, I've lived across the country in several cities including Houston, New Orleans, and Annapolis.

While children's literature has been a love since way back, it was the Gulf Coast of Texas that captured my imagination as a surly high school transplant. I attended Texas A&M University at Galveston where I received a Masters in Marine Resource Management before spending several years in the environmental sector. My proudest professional accomplishments came at the Maryland Department of the Environment, where I can measure my influence over the protection and creation of tidal wetlands in the hundreds of acres.

Over the years I've dabbled in several mediums including photography, ceramics, and illustrated journals. Through it all, I always imagined myself as an author. My pre-child self thought it would be for a sprawling novel; but parenthood led me to rediscover the complexity, joy, and complete artistry of a deceptively-simple picture book.

When we returned to Houston, I found myself at a crossroads: would I continue on my current path or be brave enough to reach for my dream of authoring and illustrating picture books? (SPOILER: Picture books won, hands down!)
